Marine Vessel Inspections Division

 The Activities Europe Inspections division performs inspections of U.S. flag commercial vessels for safety, security, and environmental protection account for a large percentage of the workload. Its missions are executed on a variety of U.S. flagged vessels such as offshore supply vessels, Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, and deep draft cargo vessels.

The Inspections division verifies compliance with U.S. laws and regulations and international conventions for structural integrity, vital systems, propulsion, seaworthiness, hazardous conditions, lifesaving, firefighting, and safety of navigation.

Activities Europe also oversees major U.S. flag new-building projects under construction and prototype and production testing of primary lifesaving appliances for US Coast Guard Approval.
