Greetings from the Command Senior Chief:
Senior Chief Marques Johnson assumed the duties as Command Senior Chief, Sector Charleston, in July 2015. His primary responsibility is to advise Captain Gregory Stump, Commander of Sector Charleston, on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard members and their families within Sector Charleston’s Area of Responsibility. Sector Charleston includes four stations, three Aids to Navigation Teams, two cutters, and a Marine Safety Unit. Most recently Senior Chief Johnson served as Finance and Supply Division Chief of Coast Guard Sector Guam.
Senior Chief Johnson’s previous assignments include: CG Sector Puget Sound, Seattle WA; Coast Guard Cutter POLAR STAR; Station Morro Bay, CA; Coast Guard Cutter THETIS and Station New Orleans.
Senior Chief Johnson is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy Class 172 and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course Class 48. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management.
Senior Chief Johnson’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with Operational Distinguishing Device, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, the Permanent Cutterman insignia and other personal, unit and service awards.
