Captain Baroody assumed command in June 2015, and directs all Coast Guard missions across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and portions of northeastern New York, spanning more than 5,000 miles of coastline and 11,000 square nautical miles of water. Captain Baroody oversees 19 Coast Guard field units and cutters across the four-state region and exercises federal authority granted by law and regulation as Captain of the Port, Federal Maritime Security Coordinator, Officer in Charge Marine Inspection, and Federal On-Scene Coordinator. Captain Baroody is a native of Northern Virginia with nearly 30 years of Coast Guard experience in boat force operations and intelligence.

Captain Baroody previously served as the Deputy Commander for Sector Houston-Galveston in Houston, Texas. A recognized expert in maritime coastal operations and a designated Coast Guard boat forces professional, he has completed two command tours and served along the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf coasts. Captain Baroody’s other operational assignments include Commanding Officer, Maritime Safety and Security Team 91105; Commanding Officer, Maritime Force Protection Unit Bangor; Deputy Commander, Coast Guard Group Eastern Shore; First Lieutenant, Coast Guard Cutter Campbell (WMEC 909); Surfman, Coast Guard Station Chatham; and Surfman, Coast Guard Station Merrimack River.
