Sector Jacksonville Command Master Chief:


Master Chief Thomas Daniels

Master Chief Daniels assumed the duties as Command Master Chief SECTOR JACKSONVILLE on June 2nd, 2014.  Prior to joining the Coast Guard he served 4 years in the Navy as a Radioman. While he was in the Navy he served aboard 2 FFGs.  One was the USS Nicholas and the other was the USS Fanning.

After attending basic training at Cape May, NJ in 1997, he was assigned to Station St. Clair Shores, MI.  6 months into his tour he received orders to attend Machinery Technician “A” School.  Upon completion of “A” School, he was assigned to the USCGC ACUSHNET as a new MK3.  After a successful tour and advancing to MK1, he received orders to MSO Hampton Roads, VA.  During his tour, he helped head up the Maritime Armed Security Team as well as cross trained with Portsmouth’s S.W.A.T. and the F.B.I.  After the tragic events on 9/11, he was deputized as a U.S. Marshall and trained and qualified over  40 individuals; half being reservist on the title 10 orders as either Boarding Team Members or Boarding Officers.  From there he received orders to Training Center Yorktown where he was an “A” and “C” school instructor.  While assigned to Training Center Yorktown he was advanced to E-7 on April 1st, 2008 and received his orders the USCGC HARRIET LANE.   After his tour on the USCGC HARRIET LANE, he completed a one year tour on the USCGC CYPRESS and then reported to SECTOR MOBILE as the new Assistant Engineering Officer.  While at SECTOR MOBILE he also served as the interim Command Master Chief for 8 months.

Master Chief Daniels personal  awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with “O” device, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two with “O” devices, Combat Action Ribbon, the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation with “O” device,  the 9/11 Medal, and he has earned the Permanent Cutterman Insignia. Master Chief Daniels is a graduate of the Chief Petty Officer’s Academy Class CLVII.

He is a native Kettering, Ohio and married to the former Donna Gail Peters of Kettering, Ohio.  Together they have two sons; Tanner Thomas Ray (16) and Riley Douglas Ray (14).
