Mission
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans supports a wide range of Coast Guard operations including search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, marine environmental protection, aids to navigation, and ports, waterways, and coastal security.
Area of Responsibility
Sector New Orleans Marine Inspection Zone and Captain of the Port Zone encompasses the Lower Mississippi River (Sea Buoy-303), Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (MM44.2 EHL - 20 WHL), Inner Harbor Navigational Canal, Port Allen Route (MM0-64.1), Atchafalaya River (MM0-45 and shared jurisdiction with MSU Morgan City MM45.5-49.5), Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MM10-66), and Tiger Pass.
