USCGC MALLET

Coast Guard Cutter MALLET is one of Three “B” Class 75' Inland Construction Tenders. Built in Morgan City, LA in 1962 and commissioned on 01 Feb 1963, CGC MALLET has been assigned to Corpus Christi, TX with the 84’ construction barge, CGB 84002, since commissioning. Primary responsibilities include Aids to Navigation (ATON) discrepancy correction and maintenance in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, all navigable channels and waterways extending from the Colorado River to the border of Mexico. CGC MALLET has 1,328 floating and fixed Aids to Navigation in its area of responsibility. Aside from normal ATON work, CGC MALLET is called upon for various construction projects and occasionally some salvage operations. CGC MALLET has also served as a support platform for various Law Enforcement and Public Relations operations.
