Mission

U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur supports a wide range of Coast Guard missions including marine safety, environmental protection, ports and waterway safety, and port security.  The Commanding Officer's authorities include Captain of the Port (COTP), Officer in Charge Marine Inspection (OCMI), Federal On Scene Coordinator (FOSC) and Federal Maritime Security Coordinator (FMSC). 

Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur's area of responsibility includes the Mermentau River, Calcasieu River, Sabine-Neches Waterway and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway from Mile Mark 191 to 317 (WHL).
