The Director of Auxiliary (DIRAUX) is charged with the active promotion and administration of Auxiliary affairs and Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) in the District, and for compliance with instructions and directives governing the Auxiliary organization. DIRAUX is responsible for three Auxiliary Regions in the Ninth Coast Guard District that support the four Coast Guard Sectors.

As the District Commander's representative in all matters pertaining to the Auxiliary and RBS, the Director keeps the District Commander advised of all circumstances and developments of interest as they pertain to the program.
