Commander Luke M. Slivinski
Commanding Officer


CDR Luke Slivinski, a native of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in Marine and Environmental Sciences. His first assignment was aboard USCGC RESOLUTE (WMEC-620) in Saint Petersburg, Florida as a Deck Watch Officer. Most recently, CDR Slivinski was assigned as Executive Officer of USCGC ALEX HALEY (WMEC 39) in Kodiak, Alaska.

CDR Slivinski’s other afloat assignments include tours as Commanding Officer aboard USCGC BLUE SHARK (WPB 87360) in Everett, Washington; and Executive Officer aboard USCGC OAK (WLB 211) in Charleston, South Carolina.

His assignments ashore include tours as Patrol Boat Manager and Law Enforcement Duty Officer in the Fifth Coast Guard District Office of Enforcement in Portsmouth, Virginia; and dual liaison to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office of Law Enforcement and to the Department of State Office of Marine Conservation under the Coast Guard Headquarters Living Marine Resources and Protected Marine Species Enforcement Division. In that capacity, he focused on international fisheries law enforcement, managed the Coast Guard’s international fisheries shiprider agreements, and advised U.S. delegations during international fisheries meetings and negotiations on matters related to at-sea fisheries law enforcement and the enforceability of conservation and management measures.

CDR Slivinski holds a Master of Environmental Management Degree from the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment. His personal awards include four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, a Coast Guard Achievement Medal, two Commandant’s Letter of Commendation awards, and the Department of State Superior Honor Award.

CDR Slivinski is married to the former Alaina Danielle Bloyd from Tallahassee, Florida. The Slivinski’s have three children: Eli age 10, Calla age 7, and Aivik age 2.
