CAPT Adam Chamie
Coast Guard Sector Key West Commander

Originally from Deep River, Connecticut, Captain Chamie earned a Bachelor of Science in Management and received his commission as an Ensign from the United States Coast Guard Academy in May, 1996.
Captain Chamie assumed the duties as Sector Key West Commander in April, 2019.  Previously, he served as the Coast Guard Liaison to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC.

Captain Chamie served on six Coast Guard cutters including Commanding Officer of CGC VALIANT in Mayport, Florida, CGC KEY LARGO in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and CGC MONOMOY forwarded deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Captain Chamie also served as Executive Officer of CGC RESOLUTE in St. Petersburg, Florida and CGC EDISTO in San Diego, California.  His first duty station was as Deck Watch Officer and Communications Officer on USCGC MELLON in Seattle, Washington.
Between sea tours, Captain Chamie served as the Comptroller at Training Center Cape May, New Jersey, as Afloat Assignment Officer at the Officer Personnel Management Division, Personnel Service Center, in Arlington, Virginia, and as the Coast Guard’s Liaison to US Naval Forces Africa, US Naval Forces Europe, and US Navy’s Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy.

In 2017, Captain Chamie completed a year-long National Security Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School.  Previously, he received his MBA from the University of California, Irvine Graduate School of Management.  He is a graduate of the Naval War College Command and Staff program, non-resident course.
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with operational device (five awards) and the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with operational device (three awards), among other personal and unit awards. Captain Chamie was the 2002 Coast Guard Elite Athlete of the Year in the sport of powerlifting.
