Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes

Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes is responsible for all Coast Guard missions on Lake Superior, northern Lakes Michigan and Huron, and surrounding navigable waterways, to include Search and Rescue, law Enforcement, Aids to Navigation, Marine Safety, and Homeland Security.

Located on the St. Mary's River in Sault Sainte Marie, MI, the Sector is the operational and administrative commander of 11 subordinate field units, which include eight multi-mission Small Boat Stations, one Marine Safety Units, and two Aids to Navigation Teams.

Sector Northern Great Lakes' missions are accomplished by a dedicated workforce of 248 Active Duty, 70 Reserve, and 26 civilian personnel. The Sector's vessel inventory includes two 47' MLBs, six 45' RB-Ms, one 49' BUSL, two 20' AM-S, three 26' TANBs, and eleven 25' RB-S.
