The U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes is responsible for all Coast Guard operations throughout the five Great Lakes, the Saint Lawrence Seaway and parts of the surrounding states including 6,700 miles of shoreline and 1,500 miles of the international border with Canada. The 6,000 active duty, reserve, civilian and auxiliary men and women who make up the U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes deliver multi-mission services in search and rescue, maritime safety and security, environmental protection, maritime law enforcement, aids to navigation and icebreaking.

@USCG STA St. Ignace conducted an EMS transport for a woman experiencing a medical emergency on #BoisBlancIsland, MI. SEC NGL received the request from CCE Dispatch and launched a RB-M crew who arrived on scene and transported the woman and an EMT to local EMS in Cheboygan, MI.

#Today @USCG STA St. Ignace transported a 20 YOM experiencing a medical emergency to local EMS, St. Ignace, MI. SEC NGL received the EMS transport request from Mackinac Island Medical Center and launched STA RB-M crew who embarked the patient and transported them to higher care.

#News- Today, @USCG SEC Lake Michigan was notified at 12:15 a.m. of a disabled 33' vessel with 13 POB drifting near rocks north of Navy Pier in #Chicago. STA DuSable Harbor rescued all 13 & safely returned them to Navy Pier. CORRECTION: We have updated the total number of false distress calls to align with fiscal year 2026 data. Great Lakes District has received 156 false distress calls since October 2025 and receives an average of 187 each year.
