HISTORY

USCGC KATMAI BAY (WTGB-101) History

The CGC KATMAI BAY (WTGB-101) was built by Tacoma Boat, WA. The keel was laid November 7, 1977, launched April 8, 1978, and was commissioned January 8, 1979. CGC KATMAI BAY has been awarded two Coast Guard Unit Commendation Medals and four Coast Guard Meritorious unit Commendation Medals for her icebreaking and rescue efforts.
