D9 PHOTO COLLAGE The U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes is responsible for all Coast Guard operations throughout the five Great Lakes, the Saint Lawrence Seaway and parts of the surrounding states including 6,700 miles of shoreline and 1,500 miles of the international border with Canada. The 6,000 active duty, reserve, civilian and auxiliary men and women who make up the U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes deliver multi-mission services in search and rescue, maritime safety and security, environmental protection, maritime law enforcement, aids to navigation and icebreaking.

#BZ STA #Marblehead At 12:41 a.m. on Dec. 4, STA Marblehead was called to transfer a 72 YOF on #PutInBayIsland after other EMS options were grounded by weather. The crew accepted, transported her to the STA, where #OttawaCounty EMS took her to a local hospital #SemperParatus

BZ #USCG STA St. Ignace after report received at 5:28 p.m. yesterday, of a person who suffered a fall injury on #MackinacIsland #LakeHuron STA RB-M brought #EMS to Mackinac Island then took the patient for further transport to #MackinacStraits Hospital #Teamwork #FirstResponder

#UPDATE 2 - Upbound navigation in the #WellandCanal has resumed through the #LakeOntario entrance. Wind restrictions are currently on a per vessel basis and some vessels may still be restricted entry until they meet wind restriction requirements.

#UPDATE - #USCG Sector Eastern #GreatLakes received report that the #WellandCanal operators are allowing downbound traffic to proceed. Upbound transit remains closed and there are currently 9 vessels in the queue.

#Maritime #Traffic - #USCG Sector Eastern #GreatLakes received notification that due to current #Weather the #WellandCanal will be suspending #Navigation due to high winds. #News - This past Friday, @USCG AIRSTA #Detroit MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched for an individual on the freighter American Courage experiencing a medical emergency. The crew arrived on scene near #HarborBeach and transferred the individual to local EMS for higher care. https://t.co/1wbjsnje3F

#News - SEC Eastern Great Lakes received a report of a 24’ sailing vessel with 2 POB aground near #Buffalo Yacht Club, NY on Oct. 15.
