Master Chief Joe Pasqua assumed the Atlantic Area Reserve Command Master Chief position on May 8, 2018, after completing two tours as the District Eight Reserve Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Pasqua enlisted on Active Duty in 1988 and shipped out to Loran Station Gesashi, Okinawa. He shipped back to the states in 1990 and spent six months on the CGC Morrow Bay and TRACEN Yorktown, VA. He attended MST A School in 1990 and traveled to Marine Safety Office (MSO) Morgan City, Louisiana. After cutting his teeth in marine safety and hurricane response he transferred to MSO Puget Sound in 1993. After a great but short tour there he returned to MSO Morgan City in 1995 for another three year tour.

Master Chief Pasqua was released from Active Duty in 1998, joined the Reserves and was stationed once again at MSO Morgan City. He was recalled for 9-11 where he completed the first southern Louisiana port security assessment. He was mobilized in 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom where he backfilled MSO Morgan City’s depleted workforce. He was mobilized in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina and once again augmented Active Duty forces as Louisiana recovered from the storm. He was assigned as the first Sector New Orleans Reserve Command Master Chief in 2009. He was mobilized in 2010 for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and served as the Liaison Officer at Forward Operating Branch Grand Isle. There he became the VIP liaison and facilitated visits by the President, Commandant, and Governor.

Master Chief Pasqua assumed the watch as the District Eight Reserve Command Master Chief in October 2013. He worked with CG Headquarters, Atlantic Area, and the D8 Sectors on multiple issues and projects, including the Boat Forces Reserve Management Plan, the Western Rivers Reserve Boat Forces plan, and repositioning of Reserve forces across the District. He was mobilized in support of Hurricane Harvey response in 2017, assisting the heavily affected sectors in helping their people.

In his civilian job Joe Pasqua is a Port Security Specialist at Marine Safety Unit Morgan City. He maintains the Area Maritime Security Plan and serves as a Command liaison to many partner agencies.

Master Chief Pasqua earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College in 2011. He is a graduate of the Chief Petty Officer Academy, Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, and Reserve Component National Security Course. His awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Letter of Commendation, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Master Chief Pasqua has also published a book on leadership.  He believes that leadership is service, and he will do his best to serve the people of Atlantic Area; Active Duty, Reserves, Civilian, and Auxiliary.
