GMC Jason R. Devoid​ 


Chief Gunner’s Mate Devoid reported to CAMPBELL in 2019 from Training Center Yorktown where he served as the Armory Supervisor, responsible for over 300 Coast Guard small arms and the munitions expenditure program.  He also served as the Firearms Instructor School Chief, training and qualifying 84 Firearms Instructors per year.

In 2002, GMC Devoid reported aboard USCGC ADAK (WPB-1333) as a Fireman.  Answering the nation’s call, he assisted in the 2003 homeport shift of ADAK from Sandy Hook, NJ to Manama, Bahrain in support of OERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.  From Bahrain, he attended Gunner’s Mate “A” School in 2004.  Upon graduating, he was stationed at the Maritime Safety Office in Portland, ME, where he assisted with the 2005 transition from Maritime Safety Office Portland and Group Portland, into Sector Northern New England.  Chief Devoid retuned to sea in 2006, where he served as independent duty Gunner’s Mate aboard USCGC Liberty (WPB-1334), homeported in Auke Bay, AK.  In 2008, he transferred to his third tour afloat aboard USCGC CAMPBELL (WMEC-909), homeported in Kittery, ME.  He remained afloat in 2011, transferring to USCGC Active (WMEC-618), homeported in Port Angeles, WA.

Chief Devoid was born in Berlin, NH and grew up in an Air Force household.  He is a 2002 graduate of Widefield High School in Colorado Springs, CO.

Chief Devoid’s personal awards include two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbons, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and Coast Guard Combat Action Ribbon.

He is married to Janelle Devoid of Juneau, AK and they have a dog named Rosie.
