GMC Joshua A. Summers, Command Chief
Chief Gunner’s Mate Joshua A. Summers assumed the duties of the Weapons Division Supervisor aboard CGC CAMPBELL in July 2022. In this capacity he provides input to the Command on issues and initiatives pertaining to gunnery exercises, small arms training programs, law enforcement, cutter security and prevention, and mission effectiveness. Chief Summers is also a member the Combat Systems Training Team, Damage Control Training Team, and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Training Team.
Chief Summers previous assignments include District One Supervisor FORCECOM Armory Detachment Cape Cod, MA, Armory Supervisor USCGC ESCANABA (WMEC-907) Boston, MA, Lead Petty Officer Weapons Augmentation Team Boston, MA, Armory Supervisor USCGC SENECA (WMEC-906) Boston, MA, Technician Weapons Augmentation Team Boston, MA, and USCGC Harriet Lane (WMEC-903) Portsmouth, VA.
Originally from Rustburg, VA, Chief Summers enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in September 1999. Chief Summers and wife Noelle have been married for 19 years and have three wonderful sons. Cole 15 years old, Aidan 15 years old, and Beau 11 years old. His personal awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, one Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and two Coast Guard Commandant Letter of Commendation Ribbons, all with operational distinguishing device. In addition to various other personal and unit level awards, he also wears the permanent Cutterman’s Pin.
