LCDR Joseph E. Rizzo 


LCDR Rizzo reported to USCGC CAMPBELL in July 2020 from Coast Guard Headquarters, where he served two years as an Interagency Facilitator at the Global Maritime Operational Threat Response (MOTR) Coordination Center.

LCDR Rizzo's previous assignments include Deck Watch Officer and First Lieutenant onboard USCGC ESCANABA (WMEC 907), Boston, MA, from 2005-2007; Executive Officer onboard USCGC TYBEE (WPB 1330), Woods Hole, MA, from 2007-2009; First Coast Guard District Law Enforcement Staff, Boston, MA, from 2009-2013; Operations Officer onboard USCGC ESCANABA (WMEC 907), Boston, MA, from 2013-2015; Commanding Officer onboard USCGC MATINICUS (WPB 1315), San Juan, PR from 2015-2016, and Commanding Officer onboard USCGC LAWRENCE LAWSON (WPC 1120), Cape May, NJ from 2016-2018.   

LCDR Rizzo is a native of Oneonta, NY and a 2005 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Research and Computer Analysis.  He holds a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

LCDR Rizzo's personal awards include four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals, Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bar, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
