CDR Gregory S. Rogers

Senior Reserve Officer

CDR Gregory S. Rogers is currently the Senior Reserve Officer (SRO) for Sector Virginia and supports over 100 reservists throughout the Sector AOR.  As SRO, CDR Rogers advises the Command on reserve policy and administration.     

CDR Rogers last served as Commanding Officer of U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit (PSU) 307 in Clearwater, Florida from 2020 to 2023   CDR Rogers led over 180 personnel at PSU 307 who conduct antiterrorism/force protection operations in support to Combatant Commanders across the globe.  CDR Rogers and PSU 307 deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in United States Southern Command’s Area of Operations.   

CDR Rogers served as the active-duty Logistics Officer for Port Security Unit 309 in Port Clinton, Ohio. At PSU 309, CDR Rogers supported Operation Enduring Freedom in the United States Southern Command’s Area of Operations.  CDR Rogers’ past assignments include Operations Officer at PSU 309, Senior Reserve Officer at Marine Safety Unit, Huntington, West Virginia, Training Officer for Group Ohio Valley, Louisville, Kentucky, and Boat Forces Officer for Sector Ohio Valley. CDR Rogers is a prior service Marine where he participated in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Sharp Edge.

CDR Rogers’ personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medal, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Navy/Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon.  CDR Rogers’ service medals include the Southwest Asia Service Medal (w/ 3 stars), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal.

Hailing from Frankfort, Kentucky, CDR Rogers holds a Bachelor of Art in Geography from Eastern Kentucky University, a Master of Arts in Military Studies from the American Military University, and the JPME 1 from the Naval War College. CDR Rogers is currently enrolled in the Senior Leaders Course at the U.S. Air War College.

CDR Rogers is married to the former Melissa Gartin of Fairborn Ohio and is the proud father of his17-year-old son, Erik.  CDR Rogers holds a Life Memberships with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. In his civilian career, CDR Rogers serves as a Community Planner with the U.S. Air Force 88th Civil Engineering Group at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
