Master Chief Petty Officer Eric Gibson

Command Master Chief, Sector San Juan


Master Chief Gibson reported aboard Sector San Juan in July 2018, where he serves as the Silver Badge Command Master Chief, advising the Sector Commander regarding issues, policies, and initiatives pertaining to Coast Guard personnel and their families assigned to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Most recently Master Chief Gibson served as Senior Enlisted Advisor at the USCG Maritime Infrastructure Protection Force-Training & Advisory Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


Master Chief Gibson’s previous assignments include Command Master Chief, Operations Department Senior Chief, and Direct Action Section-Team 3 Senior Chief at MSRT, in Chesapeake, VA; Command Enlisted Advisor for the International Division-Mobile Training Branch in Yorktown, VA; Executive Petty Officer, CGC ALBACORE in Norfolk, VA; Operations Petty Officer aboard CGC ADAK, in Manama, Bahrain; Direct Action Section-Team 2 squad leader at MSRT in Chesapeake, VA; Tactical Coxswain at Maritime Safety & Security Team 91102 in Chesapeake, VA; CG Station Fort Pierce, FL and the CGC HORNBEAM in Cape May, NJ.


Before joining the Coast Guard in March 1997, Master Chief Gibson was a Police Officer in North Carolina and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve as a Parachute Rigger.


Master Chief Gibson is a graduate of the Chief Petty Officer’s Academy and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course.


Master Chief Gibson’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medals, Coast guard Achievement Medals, and Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbons. His other awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medals the Coast Guard Expert Rifle and Pistol Medals, and various other unit awards. He wears the Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Insignia, Cutterman and Coxswain Insignia, Boat Forces Insignia, and the U.S. Army Basic Parachutist and Parachute Rigger Badges.


Master Chief Gibson is married to Amanda Jean Kyle from Bethlehem, PA.
